Early American Embroidery Designs: An 1815 Manuscript Album with Over 190 Patterns

This is the original personal album of Elizabeth Townshend, a needleworker in the early nineteenth century. Signed and dated 1815 this is an authentic collection of hand drawn designs from the period. As such there a simplicity and authenticity to the designs which place them firmly in the history of North American folk art and American historic artefacts.
These are functional designs ideally suited to embroidery embellishment, small in scale and ideal for use with silk threads. 
This comprises a rare treasury of original embroidery designs dating from early days of the Republic. Nearly 200 beautiful floral, vine, basket motifs repeat patterns, spot designs.
