A selection of Kathe Kollwitz's finest works including the four great print cycles; The Weavers 1898, The Peasant War 1908, War 1923, and Death 1935. Kollowitz's work is stark and uncompromising. Her main themes are working class struggle, deprivation, and the psychological effects of war and oppression. As well as a document of her evolving social conscience, this volume is testament to Kollwitz's development as a master of the graphic techniques of etching, woodcutting and lithography.
